For the fourth consecutive year, CAC International is sponsoring the Africa CEO Forum, an international event bringing together the most influential African leaders and financiers on 21 and 22 March 2016 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
“New Reality, New Priorities”
The Africa CEO Forum is the inescapable rendezvous of the most influential leaders of the African continent. CAC International, represented by its CEO Jérome Minlend, was at the heart of this exchange platform between private sector leaders and key public sector decision-makers.
The theme of the 2016 edition “New Reality, New Priorities” echoes the change in the economic paradigm facing Africa: falling commodity prices, falling foreign investment, and a decline in the Chinese economy.
Rethinking the economic development model, changing the business environment, meeting the challenge of energy transition, all of which have been proposed for reflection. Prestigious speakers such as HE President of Côte d’Ivoire Alassane Ouattara, HE President Ghana John Mahama and President of the African Development Bank Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina.
CAC International, at the heart of a Pan-African dynamic
Our firm, in particular by sponsoring Networking lunches, contributed to the success of the Africa CEO Forum 2016. The reflection during the various exchanges during the panels and working sessions was of high quality.
Yet we can not help but notice a discrepancy between the proposed problems, mainly concerning multinationals with global challenges, and the economic stakes linked to a particular African context:
– An Africa or Africas? Do the African countries all know the same realities?
– The African internal market, a new priority for the continent?
– What about the integration of CEMAC? (Read our editorial here)
– Between a dynamic West Africa and a resilient East Africa, what place for Central Africa?
It seems essential to draw up a clear and targeted diagnosis in line with the specific issues facing our sub-region. Through its many meetings during the Africa CEO Forum, CAC International initiated the debate on these themes and called for their deepening at the next session.
